Prime Time Fall 2019/Summer 2020 Tryouts

Prime Time Lacrosse will be hosting our annual Fall 2019/Summer 2020 travel team tryouts for all age groups with the exception of PT 2021 during the week of July 22nd through Sunday July 28th at John Jay High School located in Cross River, New York and SONO Field House (Sunday July 28th, 2019 ONLY) located in Norwalk CT.

This year we will be offering teams for players in 3rd/4th grade (Prime Time 2028) – 11th grade (Prime Time 2021). For the Prime Time 2021 team we will be inviting select players to be evaluated with the 2022 age group. If you are a 2021 looking to join our program please e-mail Prime Time Director Nick Daniello at Nick@PTLacrosse.com.

All teams are grade based with the exception of the Prime Time 2028 team, which allows third graders (class of 2029) to play up a year as we will not be offering an exclusive Prime Time 2029 team (3rd grade only) for the 2020 summer season.

This year we will be offering three tryout dates for every age group. For all ages groups except the Prime Time 2028 team, the third tryout date on Sunday July 28th, 2019 will be for players who are invited back after the first two tryouts for a final evaluation for a spot on our teams rosters. Should your son not be able to make the first two tryout dates we will allow him to tryout at the call back date as his only tryout. Those players chosen for the callback will be notified Saturday July 27th, 2019 if they made the final cut to advance to the final round of tryouts.

When registering your son for our Fall 2019/Summer 2020 tryouts please register him to tryout for his respective Prime Time team based on his current school grade as of September 1st, 2019.

We will not be offering any additional tryouts sessions for the Fall 2019/Summer 2020 season. There is an $95 non-refundable fee to tryout for our teams.

Player check in opens 45 minutes prior to the start of each age groups assigned time slot. At the tryout, all players will be issued a tryout reversible with a number on the back. Players will then be put through a series of drills and scrimmages where they will be evaluated by our staff.

All players who are selected for the Fall 2019/Summer 2020 roster will have the opportunity to participate in our fall travel program. Prime Time does not offer separate teams for the fall/summer as only players who make the summer roster will be offered the opportunity to participate in our fall program. Players will be notified of there selection via e-mail with the official rosters being posted by number by Friday August 2nd, 2019.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRYOUT PROCESS

QUESTION: MY SON DIDN’T PLAY PRIME TIME LAST YEAR, DOES IT IMPACT HIS ABILITY TO MAKE THE TEAM?

ANSWER: Every year we are asked this question.THE PURPOSE OF OUR TRYOUT IS TO TAKE THE BEST PLAYERS AT THE TRYOUT PERIOD! Just because your son did not play on our summer 2019 team does not mean he will not make the fall 2019/summer 2020 team. We have and always will take the best players at the tryout.

QUESTION: YOUR SUMMER TEAMS ARE VERY GOOD, ARE YOU REALLY LOOKING FOR NEW PLAYERS?

ANSWER: YES WE ARE! Our teams are highly competitive teams and do have very skilled players across the board at every position. With that said, we are constantly looking to upgrade our rosters and if your son is good enough, he will make the team. Our tryout pool of players is always talented and we want the best team possible.

QUESTION: HOW DOES THE TRYOUT PROCESS WORK?

ANSWER: Over the two day tryout period we are evaluating your son with our full Prime Time staff. After the conclusion of the second tryout we will meet as a staff and narrow down the number of players we are considering for the final roster of each Prime Time team. Your son will be issued a tryout jersey with a number on it as our coaches do not evaluate players by name to ensure the process is strictly done anonymously. The purpose of the first two days is to give every player the opportunity to be evaluated twice to ensure we get a good look at his ability and the third day is to ensure we focus on the player pool in a smaller group to make our final decision.

QUESTION: MY SON CANNOT MAKE ONE OR BOTH TRYOUT DATES PRIOR TO THE CALL BACK TRYOUT, WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

ANSWER: We prefer to see players at both tryouts and the final call back tryout, ultimately with the way the club scene has pushed up the timeline for tryouts we understand it may be difficult to make both tryouts. Should your son only be able to attend one tryout we will consider him based on that one tryout.  If your son cannot make either tryouts prior to the call back tryout we will permit your son to attend the call back tryout as his tryout for the team. Should you have any questions on the tryout process/dates please reach out to Prime Time Boys Director Nick Daniello directly at Nick@PTLacrosse.com

QUESTION: MY SON HAS AN OFFER FROM ANOTHER CLUB TEAM BUT THE PRIME TIME TRYOUT PROCESS IS NOT COMPLETED YET, HOW SHOULD I HANDLE THIS?

ANSWER: We get it and understand that the tryout process is hectic for every family as players ultimately are trying out for multiple teams to ensure they have a place to play this year.  Club teams are constantly trying to pressure families into making a decision early and trying to lock in players before they complete the tryout process with all the teams. If your son is that good the club team that has made an offer will wait for your answer and for the process to be completed. If you have an offer from another club with a deadline we encourage you to reach out to to us directly by contacting Prime Time Director Nick Daniello at Nick@PTLacrosse.com. We will try out best to help guide you in making your choice and provide basic feedback on where your son may be after the first tryout but know final decisions on the roster will be made after our call back tryout July 28th.

QUESTION: HOW MANY TEAMS DO YOU HAVE AND ARE THERE A OR B Teams?

ANSWER: We have only A teams and do not offer B teams. We want the best players period, which is why we only offer one team per age level. All our teams compete at the highest level tournaments in the top tier brackets.

QUESTION: IF MY SON MAKES YOUR SUMMER TEAM, WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?

ANSWER: Our program believes in the multi-sport athlete. We do offer year round programing throughout the fall and winter as well as our summer program. Your only commitment is to the summer as if your son plays another sport he does not have to drop his other sports to play lacrosse year round. Obviously we would love to have your son with us all year but we believe in letting our players be athletes as those other sport experience make our players well rounded athletes.

QUESTION: DO YOU PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON MY SON’S TRYOUT?

ANSWER: Unfortunately based on the volume of players trying out to earn a spot on the team it is virtually impossible to tell you where your son fell short of making our teams. We encourage those players who do not make the team and want to know where they can improve their game to attend one of our camps or clinics so we can provide you the individual feedback you would need based on working with your child in small group setting.

QUESTION: CAN WE SPEAK TO SOMEONE DURING THE TRYOUT PROCESS

ANSWER: We are happy to connect with any family who may have a questions regarding our program. Please know that last year we had over 400 boys tryout for our summer 2018 teams. That means there are 800 parents and to one director. We will try to get back to you as quickly as possible so please be patient.

QUESTION: WHERE DO YOU GUYS PRACTICE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?

ANSWER: Throughout the year we practice at multiple locations in the Katonah Lewisboro area. Our locations are John Jay High School, John Jay Middle School, Onatru Farm Park, Fox Valley Park, Ridgefield Academy and Chelsea Piers, CT (Winter Training).

If you have any additional questions regarding our programing we encourage you to reach out to Director Daniello at Nick@PTLacrosse.com

Thank you for considering our organization and we wish everyone the best of luck throughout the tryout process.

All results on team selection will be announced by Friday  August 2nd, 2019.

Please make sure to keep your son’s roster card number as players will be identified by their tryout number and an e-mail will be sent out to the group.
